A Little History: The home also known as the SMITH Residence was purchased as a wedding gift for the son of Mr. Smith who married Henry Flaglers daughter. In 1904 architect J.H. W. Hawkins designed his own residence (now demolished) on the corner of Oak and Stockton Street. A short time later he designed this house next door for his new son-in-law, Augusus V.S. Smith, who was the general counsel for Henry Flagler's F. E. C. Railway. The three story brick and shingle Dutch Colonial house was the same unusaula typle of gambrel roof with cross-pattern gables as 2057 Oak Street (RA-51) abd 1515 Walnut Street (SP103). The roofline is accentuated by a molding of dentils. with the addition of brackets on the first-story eaves. There are many varied types of windows with fine details, which include rough-cut stone arches and lintels over the first floor windows.
